Escot House in Devon is a beautiful historic estate offering a stunning setting for weddings of all styles — from traditional to wildly creative. As an Escot House Devon wedding photographer, we’ve always loved the variety this venue offers: the beautiful walled garden, the rolling Devon parkland, the elegant house itself and the wonderfully eclectic atmosphere that encourages couples to be completely themselves. Maddie and Chris took that invitation and ran with it.

Maddie and Chris’s Wes Anderson-inspired wedding was one of the most joyfully creative days we’ve ever been part of. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that every detail had been considered — the colour palette, the styling, the props, the symmetry — all done with a lightness of touch and genuine sense of fun that made the whole day feel like stepping into a beautiful, warm film.

The ceremony at Escot was perfectly in keeping with the theme — charming, personal and full of quiet humour. Maddie and Chris’s vows made the room laugh and cry in equal measure, and the whole thing felt completely authentic to who they are as people. Documentary wedding photography thrives in these moments — when a couple isn’t performing for anyone, just being completely themselves.

The grounds at Escot provided perfect backdrops for a couple who were completely at ease in front of the camera and had put real thought into how they wanted their day to look and feel. The walled garden in particular was extraordinary — colour, texture and light in abundance.
